Free Pattern: Flying Eyeball

While working on a much bigger pattern, I got the idea for this classic little spooky friend! Make a whole bunch in time for Halloween!

Eyeball (F)

Start with black

r1 6sc in magic ring (6)

•Cut yarn, pull tail through.
Do an invisible finish

Change to iris color

r2a BLO slst around (6)
r2b *inc* - work through BLO of both colors (12)

•Cut yarn, pull tail through.
Do an invisible finish

Change to white, allow a longer starting tail

r3a BLO slst around (12)
r3b*inc*- work through BLO of both colors (24)
r4-8 sc around (24)

•Use white tail to embroider a shine, 2 passes.

r9 *dec* (12)

•Stuff firmly

r10 *dec* (6)

•Finish off and sew closed.

•Finish off and leave a tail for sewing

Assembly

•Pin the wings into place, tacked onto r5-7 of the eyeball.

•Sew the end square of the wing to the eyeball, with 5 or 6 hidden running stitches.

•The very last thing I always do is starch my dolls with a wetblocking technique I developed. An extra starchy hold on the wings is good-

•Use fishing line or a clear jelly yarn to hang them! I made a big messy knot, and pushed it into the crochet.
